Between two beaches • Pools, golf and tennis on site • Privately owned apartments
Before you book anywhere in Albufeira, here is what a stay at Balaia Golf Village is actually like: where it sits, how it is laid out, who it suits and what to expect from a privately owned apartment inside the resort. Written by owners who stay there themselves.
Where it is
Balaia Golf Village is a low-rise resort on the clifftop stretch of coast east of Albufeira, in the parish of Olhos de Água. It is set back from the road behind its own gates, with apartments and villas spread among pines, cork oaks and gardens rather than stacked in blocks. Two beaches, Maria Luísa and Santa Eulália, are a walk away through the grounds, and the rest of the Algarve is a short drive: the old town and marina of Albufeira in one direction, the fishing village of Olhos de Água and the red cliffs of Falésia in the other.

How it is laid out
The resort works like a small village. Six outdoor pools are spread across the grounds so that most homes have one within a few minutes' walk. The nine-hole golf course, with its academy and driving range, runs through the middle. There are four tennis courts, a health club with an indoor pool, a playground and a kids club run by the resort in season, and a small commercial area with a supermarket, a parapharmacy, a few shops and restaurants. Part of the resort operates as a hotel with a reception; the rest is made up of privately owned apartments and villas, which is where we come in.
Hotel side or private apartment?
A full kitchen, a living room, a private balcony and space for a family of four plus a cot. You live at your own pace rather than the hotel's.
The pools, gardens, paths to the beach and the commercial area are the resort's and are used by owners' guests too. Pool access is available to our guests.
Golf, tennis and some resort services may carry an additional charge, and the resort sets its own opening times and seasons. We tell our guests the current conditions before they arrive, so there are no surprises.
No queue at a desk: you get your access before you land and reach us directly on WhatsApp during the stay.
A hire car parks for free inside the resort, a few steps from the apartment.
Booking from the owners means no platform commission. The rate you see on our site is the best we offer anywhere.
Who it suits
Families with small children get the most out of it: no through traffic, a pool a short walk from the door, a playground under the cork oaks and beaches you can reach on foot. Golfers have nine holes and a driving range on site and more than thirty Algarve courses within an hour. From October to April the resort turns quiet and the coast path comes into its own, which is when walkers and longer stays make the most sense. Couples find the gardens and the balcony evenings; what nobody gets is nightlife, because there is none inside the resort, and that is exactly the point.

Not for the beach, the pools or the resort's small commercial area, all reachable on foot. A car makes the rest of the Algarve easy, and parking inside the resort is free for our guests.
Only for our guests
This page tells you what does not change. What does change, and what makes a week here good rather than fine, we put in a private guide that opens the day before check-in: a plan for each day built from the forecast, the wind and the tides; our own picks for eating out along the coast; the resort's current opening times and prices; and the small things we have learned from staying here ourselves. It is part of what you get when you book with us, and it is not published anywhere else.
